Is this procedure correct:

1. Wash/Dry
2. Clay Bar
3. Polish
4. Wax

Also, can anbody tell me where to get my hands on the Zaino wax?

Cheers.

Yep thats the basic method.

Not much point putting on the wax, if your going to polish it off.

And as far as I've seen you can only buy zaino over the net.

I know waxit have it. http://www.waxit.com.au/

Wash the car and dry it. Then clay bar it, then your left with a clean canvas to polish and then wax. Think of Wax as another clear coat you put onto the car. :)

Tigerkind or Cpitts are the men to talk to about all of this.....

And slight hi-jack, what black plastic 'blackener' (for the sideskirts and mudflaps) is everyone using.... i was thinking of some of this stuff,

1. Morning Fresh
2. clay bar
3. Morning Fresh
4. Maguires Fine Cut
5. Maguires Fine Cut (depends how bad swirls are)
6. Z5 Polish
7. Z5 Polish
8. Z2 Pro
9. Z2 Pro

After using almost every maguires product for over 4 years, i can say that im now a zaino convert. Would never go back. This stuff feels like the day i waxed it even after 5 months. Although there are superior products out there but not as practical or affordable.

I get mine from here:

this is a good site to start on ...

and that sequence is right.
claying is the best thing ever!! it just gets it sooo smooth :) I love it.

I personally use the mothers 3 step product (prewax, polish and was) and I find it gives a much better result and much easier to use than Maguires stuff. however I do use the Maguires clay as that's the only thing avaiable at my local store but it works well.

and for those who hasn't seen the world's most expensive car wash -

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewt ... 865&page=1
and another that has gone over the top with detailing an astra.

yes I got abit crazy with it myself when I bought my new car ..

Buffing and polishing = 2 different things.

Think of buffing as what you do to bring up a shine from the wax, effectivley removing the residue and creating a smooth surface.

Polish is a product that is put on to help enhance the gloss. The irony is that you'll buff off the polish for the best result. :)

Have a read of the docs on this link:
http://www.corptech.no-ip.org/doodads/htdocs/cars/detailing.asp

I've put them together over quite a few years and cars and they give predictable results that are quite good.

Probably the MOST important thing to note is that almost ALL damage done to the cleaning/polishing/waxing is by the tools you use to wash, polish and wax your car (oh, and your clothes as you brush against it). So whether you use products from Company A or B your car will still take as much abuse as you push against it.

Make sure your tools are of good quality and condition or you'll just be scratching the car every time you touch/wash it.

Good to see you're right into it  Wokka Wokka just doesn't understand obviously :P

There's a lot of bad sites like that one out on the net

Age, if you're looking for a good trim protectant then you really can't go past Forever Black. It's a dye based product, which will not only restore the black trim but will keep it all looking black much longer than any other protectant out there.

No worries, you can get it in Autobarn. There's FOrever Black for Trim and Forever Black for tyres....the tyre stuff is apparently the same as the trim stuff but a bit cheaper.

Ideally wash the car first so it's clean (well, cleanER) then use a mix of water and good quality car wash in a small spray bottle OR something like Meguiars Quick Detailer (designed to work with clay bars and similar) and spray the area to be barred (only do a small section at a time) and bar away!!

The idea is to ensure the area is well lubricated so the bar doesn't stick to the duco due to excess heat buildup (which can happen pretty quickly).
