Just to up date I got 4 adrenalines in 215/45/R17 fitted plus balance and wheel alignment for $850 at Jax Quickfit Moorabbin. Great service and great prices (this was with my 10% discount but they should do a discount if your a club member anyway). So far I absolutely love them! Road noise is good, the Maxxis were noisy and so far the adrenalines are great. Feel really good in the corners and in the wet.

Anyone heard much about this new-ish release (for Australia) from Dunlop: Direzza Sport Z1 'Star Spec'
Am not sure of prices and it appears as if Stuckey Tyre Service in Brunswick is one of very few outlets to stock them, couldn't find them on the Dunlop Australia website hmmm

The Star Spec is very hard to come by (I was looking for a set locally), i went to a Dunlop specialist and they said they never heard of it. The only way i know of getting these tires is through tirerack.com
I think these were supposed to replace the out going DZ101.

My friend has them on his Road/Track spec EG Civic.
They are a very very good tire, he has given it about 10,000km's with even wearing, very good initial turn in feel and only thing is its a bit noisy (not like a KU36). I cant comment on wet performance though.

I will be trying a set of these tires or Toyo R1R's after my current set of RE001

^^^^Thanks for the feedback solitZ, yeah I thought Tire Rack was one of the avenues through which to source this tyre.
Funny your friend mentions that they're a little noisy.....one of the Tyre Tests on Tire Rack mentions this as one of few downsides.

Admittedly, I'm more than happy with my current RE001 Adrenalins, it's just that a contact of mine who owns a classic Datsun (and member of the Datsun club) sung the praises of this tyre in his 195/60/14 size, particularly in the wet....... so thought I'd put it out there to see if anyone else had heard much about them.

Big thanks to Ricky @ Tyrepower for sourcing me a set of KU36 on friday arvo and had them fitted on the same day at a great price and great service!!!!

Then for the test drive to Mt.Buller via Whittlesea  ....... Fantastic tire well in the dry at least found them quite smooth and not alot of road noise at all and endless amount of grip.

Now just to see how long they will last...........

But Thumbs Up Definatly

Kuhmo Ku36 235/40/18

Fitted 2 weeks ago $914 all up ($230-ish a corner)

Done approx 1000kms on them.

From the cornering I have done though, im very impressed at the grip+handling improvement as my car, suspension wise, is stock apart from springs + strut braces. The difference in cornering is excellent. Tires refuse to let go (medium and hard cornering), very smooth and more importantly you can feel what's going on underneath you.

Will give a more thorough update after a few track outings and see how they go mileage wise (i'll be happy if I can stretch em out to 30,000kms  )

^I just clicked over 30K kms on my KU36s, and they're definetly getting towards their last legs, although 90%+ was highway driving.

Im also a fan of the KU36's. Currently in 225/40/18. Very grippy in the dry. Paid $860.
