Just want to revisit the passenger session thing.
This weekend is a day at Winton. I have
a) a potential new navigator who I need to take at speed around something to see if she gets sick, and
b) TWO petrol heads who are thinking about doing track days, and would like to come for a ride to see if it's something they're up to. Lots of people perceive these track days the same way as the in car V8 "super"car footage they see on TV. With the odd ahem exception, our days have little in common with this.
I can't ask them to drive for 2 hours to Winton on a "there MAY BE passenger sessions".
You guys are losing out to Tampered motorsport track days in this respect (which always fill), because they guarantee passenger rides.
My personal opinion, is that the WRX club should make a decision one way or the other; and communicate it. If it wasn't for evocup, I'd be attending fewer WRX days (probably none at Winton) because Tampered offer me a better package for my needs..
I don't understand how Tampered's insurance allows them to run passenger sessions for the full day, yet WRX days often don't have passenger sessions at all? I'm sure there's a reason, but as a "customer"(?) I'd be MUCH happier if WRX days at Winton had an alloted passenger session. Having said that, your club members are the MOST important people to look after..
It's also very hard for me to hook in the next "generation" of competitors (these two I'm talking about both have WRX's by the way) if there's no way that they can get a decent feel on track . Stepping up to driver training is a MUCH bigger comittment than sitting in a passenger seat...
Apart from that, very happy
